The Circle of Inquiry

What is Inquiry? Is a thought that travels through every freshman brain?  Based on the dictionary, Inquiry is an act of asking for information or an official investigation. As human beings we use inquiry in every day life experiences.
As individuals we all have our own unique opinions and perspective in how we understand things. For example: my classmates and I have different methods on how we learn.  Inquiry is important in our daily lives because in order for us to comprehend better and rationalize our own questions and thoughts that we have.

Who Has it Better?

As I was sitting in the auditorium, for Welcome Weekend waiting for it to end, Chris Herren showed up to tell us about his drug addiction. I was very surprised to see a man who has gone through so much talk about his pain in front of hundreds of students. His story had touched so many Americans. I was surprised at SCSU had gotten such a famous person to come to our school.  It shows me that they try their best to keep their students from ruining their lives.

After he finished with his story a lot of students started opening up to him too. I was very happy to see that they can talk about their pain in front of hundreds of students. This lecture made me realize that I have nothing to complain about because other people have it worst. Most teenagers complain about how they don’t have the coolest car or how they don’t get enough money.  I have learned that the people who have it worst complain the least than people who have it all.

1B What's Different About Your Blog?

As I was browsing thought the different blogs, I figured something out. Most of these blogs show different personalities and different attitudes. I saw that blogging is potentially made for expressing your self and the way you feel.  The best feeling is that in blogging you cannot be judged. It is a whole new world where people don’t see your face or hear your voice, but they get to meet the person inside you.  A phrase that my teachers always use to say was that “we all have an inner voice”. Blogging helps our inner voice express itself

What I didn’t like about blogging was that people blog about recipes or talk about fashion. While I was reading these posts I notices my self not interested in the writer. I believe that in order for you to connect with someone from the other side of the computer is that you should talk about your self and what you believe in.  Most bloggers look for different opinions and views.  With out differences there would be no arguments. In blogging we discover that opposites do attract, even on the web. Reading all of these blogs made me realize that it is okay to be my self.

As a blogger I find my self to be as different as everyone else. I will not try to change my attitude on things just because I don’t want to feel left out. As a blogger I will be an outsider to every opinion I give. I hope that others will not mind my different opinions on life.  My plan is to become a better blogger every time I write. I believe that in order for me to be a great blogger I have to have a great imagination and courage to say what I feel.

1A The Beginning of Something New

When ever I asked about college I was told that it was going to be very challenging and you have to stay focused on your material. Now that I am in this university, I am starting to realize that it is more than just being a student. In college you are part of something. Being in this university is a goal accomplished in itself, It is one of my many goal that I have accomplished and have yet to achieve to becoming a professor in mathematics in a university such as SCSU.

Being enrolled into college for my self is not only getting the higher education that I work so hard for, but also growing up and maturing as an individual. In high school, teachers would chase us for our homework but in a university, teachers get paid to teach not to babysit. As cruel as that sounds, it forces the students to mature and be responsible for their own academic fate. In the beginning of this long journey we go in as students and come out as research scientist.

Hard work and determination has always been the support system of my success thus far in my education.  I have learned that nothing is easy and that you have to work hard to get to where you are.  My parents have taught me that hard work always pays off.  Being raised in such a strict family also helps me take things more seriously and go beyond my level. As of right now I am looking forward to learn new things from my courses and get the results I expect at the end of this semester. Also I am excited to meet new people as this semester goes by.
