Even in my first year of
college I am still failing at taking good notes in History class and studying
the proper material for the test. I have tried many times to be prepared for
the test but I have always failed at it. This week I tried extra hard to work
better and pay attention more in my History class. This class only meets on Monday and
Wednesday. On Monday I tried to not use my phone as much as I use to. I realized
that I remembered more things about the class because I was focusing on what
the teacher was talking about and not on my phone. Even though it was hard for
me not to use my phone, I feel as if I gained so much more knowledge than the
last few weeks.
On Wednesday I tried something different. I was only writing
down the key words and not everything the teacher said. When I went home that
day I revised my notes and elaborated on them more. This really helped me
because I have really bad writing. As I
did that I started to notice that I learn more about the topic when I keep
rewriting what the teacher said in class.
This week I did not fail at writing better notes and doing
better on my tests. I believe the only reason I did better was because I tried
more than the other times. From this experience I learned that no matter how
many times you fail, you always have to try again until you get it. Many people
just quit because they feel they are not good enough. I believe people fail
worst when they give up.
