12B Kids and School

This weeks reading brought a lot of questions to my mind. It was interesting to see that these reading were about the different types of learning. One question that I came up with is why is shorter school, less homework and no tests good for kids?

I believe that if teachers cared most about how the child performs rather than their grades, children would like to go to school more. I remember when I was in elementary school and I did not like to go to school because it was either too long or too much work. I use to be scared for tests because I knew that it was a big part of my grade. Even now I am sacred because in college all that matters is how you do in tests.
Without tests children would learn things for themselves and not just to pass a test. Most of the children forget everything after a test because they think that they don’t need it anymore. Many people argue that kids need to be tested so that they know if they learned anything, but even if we do test them they will not learn anything either because they will not enjoy it. I believe that if kids had less homework they would not feel obligated to do it. For example when I have a lot of homework, it just overwhelms me and I end up just shutting down because it is too much for me.

As you can see kids can do much better by not putting pressure on themselves. Also having no tests can make kids learn because they want to learn and not to just pass a test.
